I wasn't expecting to have company with me today. It's always just been me and Elliot when going to the party store to pick out his decorations, even though the last two years he wasn't old enough to understand, it was still just the two of us. Yet, Caleb’s made the journey fun and interesting, to say the least.

Elliot ended up picking Rusty Rivets for his party theme. It's a new kid show where they fix and build things. I didn't even know he liked that show since he doesn't watch it much. He told me Caleb's been teaching him how to use tools and showing him how to build things, which is probably the real reason for his choosing.

Elliot’s seemed to really take a liking to Caleb, which I'm not quite sure I'm completely comfortable with. I just don't want him to get so attached and used to having Caleb around our house since his stay is only temporary. I know he'll still be around town, but he won't be seeing him every day or even multiple times a week like he does now. I think I'll have to have a talk with him about our living situation later.

Elliot's soccer game went about as well as a bunch of two and three-year-olds running around a field kicking a ball is supposed to go. They don't actually have winners at this age. It's more to learn the fundamentals of it all. Caleb was amused watching him run around the makeshift field. My mom, dad, Colleen, Heath, and Jenna were all there to cheer on my little man as well.

The parents all got along with Caleb really well. My dad’s met him once at the precinct. My mom works in the city now so this was her first time. My dad, Heath, and Caleb stood next to each other on the sidelines carrying on a conversation practically the whole time.

After the game ended, Colleen suggested we all go over to the local pizza buffet for dinner which worked out great since it’s Elliot's favorite—and secretly mine.

My mom and dad took Elliot for the night after he begged and pleaded for them to. He said, “I miss you soooo much and Caweb works me wike a dog.” An expression I had to laugh at coming from my child, which in reality is nothing new. The shocked look on Caleb's face made it even better.

“So am I going to have to call child labor law enforcement on you for working my minor son like a dog?” I ask Caleb, humor lacing my voice.

He's sitting in Jenna's recliner, while I sit on my tan leather couch. The television’s on but there's nothing good to watch on a Saturday night while the rest of the world is out enjoying the weekend.

“I can't believe he said that,” Caleb responds, “Where does he come up with half the shit that comes out of his brilliant little mouth? He's the one who wouldn't stop pestering me until I showed, named, and explained every tool I've been using to him and how to use it.
